Jeanne Lanvin was born in 1867, and at the tender age of 13 started sewing and repairing. When she opened her first boutique in Paris in 1889, she opted for simplicity and bright colours to create her own style (in which her well known colour, Lanvin Blue, stands out). It is currently one of the oldest and most prestigious Firms in Paris.
She intertwined her creations with the art and paintings she collected in her apartment on the Rue Barbet-de-Jouy. She dressed women like Marlene Dietrich or the queens of Romania and Italy, and she started diversifying her business through accessories and perfumes, among other things.
In 2001, Alber Elbaz, supported by celebrities such as Nicole Kidman or Natalie Portman, provided new blood to the Brand and is undoubtedly responsible for the resurrection of Lanvin as an icon of Paris elegance.
